Genesis 16

Bible Gateway Genesis 16 NIV link: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=1&chapter=16&version=31

Have you ever wanted something so bad, that you force it to happen? Instead of waiting and letting it happen you skip over B & C and go straight from A to D. You get what you want, but it never seems to be what you thought it would, or it fizzles out just as quickly as you got it. That is what has happened here. The Lord told Abram that he would have a son…….yet he nor his wife wanted to wait. Sarai came up with a plan to speed things up. TO no surprise She got exactly what she asked for, but upon receiving it, despised getting it. It brought more pain than joy. We as humans tend to do the same thing. We are always in a rush, always in a hurry to get to the destination. We are in such a hurry that we forget to enjoy the journey.

We would all do well to recall Psalm 27: 14Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.” Or Isaiah 30: 18 “Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” When we wait for the Lord he will bless us, he will pour out his blessing, but we must be patient. I often hear people say that the Lord does not always answer prayers. To that I say he always does, sometimes that answer is no, or not now, or wait a little longer. Of course the heart of man often does not want to see the absence of action as an answer. Instead we pray, and when nothing happens we want to go force it! We should all remember to wait for the Lord. When he is ready for something to happen, there is no mistaking his will.

Peace,

Brian!
